Module 4: Designing System-Wide Interventions
Congratulations! You have completed Learning Organization Core Competency
Workshop Module 3
LETTER OF COMPLETION
Dear all,
Congratulations!
Once again, it was lovely seeing all of you at the workshop! Last week's workshop
focused on a few things:
- When we mean change it means we respect the systemic nature of
interrelatedness. Never direct a change (yes, even if you are the Director) but
rather work with change systemically (working with the circles of causality.
These parts are not only internally connected but also connected to the
external environment and like the "like the uncle" clarify how the whole system
can work better. The stories from Botswana were to illustrate these structures
are real. We just need to find them.
- Be mindful of the five disciplines and treat each one of them as a len or use
them to see yet another perspective of the issue. Doing so, allows you to first
see the whole structure and then "work with" rather than having to "push" the
system. References to VDM and Theory U were for that purpose.
- And most of all, to remind one to take time to clarify and sharpen our visions. In
our daily rush, we keep no time or is sometimes is afraid to venture into
"visionland" for fear of upsetting the people around you since you see that all
the time. Be mindful that we see our visions as going beyond our personal
visions as part of a calling beyond the organization itself to humankind more
broadly. These visions facilitate systemic changes. The trick is to engender
and listen to others' visions around you. That was the references to the
disciplines of Personal Mastery and Shared Vision.
A SPECIAL MENTION:
I just wished to also reflect a special mention that all of you have undergone all four
levels of the Learning Organization core competency programme. While this note is
not meant to be a certification, your exposure to the tools is no less than that included
the scope as listed here for the four levels.
Congratulations! Do be gentle with yourself and others around you. Continue being
the observer as you are the actor. Attempt to teach a few tools at a time and increase
your repertoire over time and watch and learn from your journey. That was the
preparation in the workshop and you are readier for this. Feel free to continue your
practice in the clinics, Forums and practice sessions on the programme.
We have captured all the tools we use on the workshops as display posters. You are
welcome to browse through them, download and keep those more important for you.

Once again congratulations on a job well done at the above workshops! We certainly
hope it was worth every moment you were there and this would continue to inspire
yourself and others around you with the work.
With warm regards and wishes,
