Pre-reading Work:
This workshop intends to deepen the disciplines of mental models and team learning. Peter had developed these by deepening the works of Chris Argyris (Link 1, Link 2, Article). Argyris stated that we trap ourselves in “defensive routines” that safeguard our mental models from examination. We develop “skilled incompetence” - how we as adult learners become “highly skilled at protecting ourselves for the pain and threat posed by learning situations.” Suggested pre-readings include:

Writing a personal dialogue case:
The learning methodology of these programs is based largely on personal dialogue cases written in advance by participants. The quality of your case will have a major impact on your learning. As explained (a sample) in the "Guidelines for writing a case," we would like you to describe an episode that illustrates a difficult or challenging issue in your work. The best cases focus on moments that raise a key theme or recurring difficulty that you would like to learn to handle more effectively. Bring it with you to the session.

Post-course Work:
Continue to notice the frame uncovered with your dialogue case occur in other stuck conversations. Confirm or disconfirm the frame. Use the skills learned at the workshop to zone in on your frame. Look out for the follow-up note after the workshop.

POTLUCK
To minimize the costs of running the session, while at the same time finding ways to involve the participants in making the workshop possible, we invite participants to potluck refreshments.
Food to consider: Preferably those that can be kept well at room temperature (e.g. cakes, light pastries) Amounts: Small numbers will do, usually there is more than enough variety to go around. Plates, cutlery, serviettes and drinks would be provided at our end.
