"Will it never end?" This question rings clearly in the mind of every terror victim (yet a question that every CEO secretly wishes he could enjoy asking of his company!). Some things really never ends.
This was of a movie that I watched in the pat week. Vantage Point.
It is a story of the shooting of a President of the United States at the pact signing ceremony in Spain by its allies in fighting terrorism. The movie presents what eight different persons saw as what was leading up to the event of the shooting and what happens afterwards.
What was terrifying to see was all eight viewpoints were correct, but no one viewpoint told the whole story., Yet each perspectives' actions were based on one's interpretations of what one saw and believed was the whole story. As the movie unravels, we watch each viewpoint with bated breath knowing we would be "learning" something new and different by that perspective. It was fascinating just piecing the puzzle right before us! Runs you out of breath eventually just watching the whole aftermath. At the end of the movie, I remember heaving a sigh of relief but deep in my heart a worrying question sat there. How many of us gets to see / do that with situations in the lives around us?
Now if one incident of the shooting of the President had eight perspectives I wonder how many there are in seeing the entanglements that the various "enemy" groups get themselves into in leading one to take that decision to shoot the President. Any guesses? And what are the perspectives we are not watching?
That's material for another movie? Right! Except in this case, the movie is already running in our lives.
Hope you get to watch the movie while it is still screening. Love to hear your reactions on the eGroup.
Do feel free to pass this on to anyone you think would like to hear about these.
Warmly,
Sheila Damodaran http://www.lopn.net

"For a long time I had felt like a mouse on a corporate treadmill and I was curious to find out how the programmes was going to provide me with some new insights and fresh perspectives. As the days unfolded, I thought the program was pleasant, relaxing and a good opportunity to recharge the battery. It wasn't until I came home, however, when it suddenly dawned on me that I had subtly changed. It was as if in this moment of stillness in Vermont, I had changed a lens on my mental camera and was looking at the world in a different way. As if in a moment of connection with life and the universe, I finally understood that our greatest power to change the world lies in our power to see beyond the veil." - Recent Participant

I now have tools and approaches to help me understand dilemmas, appreciate the perspective of others and know how to help when the conversation appears stuck. - Global Quality Manager, BP Solar. .... "I really enjoyed the Action Design workshops when I took them but I also noticed that they had a 'time release' quality in my life. It's been a gradual process but I have actually caught myself seeing things very differently." - An Organizational Development Director.
